ONLINE ART CLASSES

I have decided to start offering ONLINE ART INSTRUCTION.  Lessons will be in six week segments for $125 and include weekly assignments and critiques. THIS IS A CLASS YOU SIGN UP FOR WHEN YOU ARE READY TO, and can include any of the following:  drawing, design, composition, perspective, watercolour, acrylic, oil, pastel, or coloured pencil.  I will help you with whatever you wish from colour mixing to setting up and lighting still life.  Figure, portrait, landscape, floral, animals, and any combination of subjects - it's your choice.

Work at home on your schedule and no extra expense for travel and accommodation. Work in your PJ's if you want!  Take a day off when you want. I will be available to answer questions and offer guidance throughout the six weeks. All you need is a scanner or digital camera and a computer so you can send me jpegs of your progress.  I will email you suggestions and demos and honest (but kind!) critiques.  For portrait and figurative works it is best if you can find someone willing to model but if this is not possible I have good photo reference for you to work from and we will cover the pros and cons of working from life vs. photos.

REGISTER FOR AN ONLINE CLASS:  karen@karenmartinarts.ca  or call 250-282-0134

STUDIO NEWS

Studio

The studio is situated on beautiful acreage in the Sayward Valley on north Vancouver Island, on the lower slope of H'kusam Mountain, and only 5 km from the ocean at Kelsey Bay. It is filled with light and large enough to accommodate eight students at a time.

Private lessons are $20 per hour. Use of studio premises while I am there is also available for $5 per hour.

The environment provides inspiration, peace, quiet, and good music to help expedite your artistic expression. For a group of artists together there is the stimulation of varied ideas, suggestions, and fun. Some of my Comox Valley artist friends have been up to spend a day in the summer, finding multiple subject matter in the garden, forest, and mountain view. Winter comforts are not in short supply inside the studio with the blazing wood stove and plenty of good tea or coffee (organic and free trade, always!) Just let me know if you want to come by for an afternoon. I'll bake up some scones and put the kettle on.

MY BLOG

 The blog site is: http://www.karenmartinarts.blogspot.com

I am thrilled to report that I now, as of late August, have 59 "followers" and am meeting so many wonderful people, including a great many awfully talented artists. Hoping to see you visit the blog once in a while as I will be updating progress on specific works more frequently there. If you have a blog please let me know what the address is as I enjoy looking at what others are doing and it is always good to give and receive support.
